The Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons has donated 50 chairs and a smart television to the 37 Military Hospital to enhance postgraduate training for doctors specialising in radiology.

The donation was presented by the Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Professor Richard Adanu, and received by the Commander, 37 Military Hospital, Brigadier General Richard Mensah. The items are intended to improve the teaching and learning environment for radiology residents at the Hospital.

Speaking on the purpose of the donation, Professor Adanu explained that the 37 Military Hospital had received a significant number of radiology residents this year, creating the need for additional furniture and a large display screen to support teaching and learning.

He said the College, in collaboration with the Hospital, identified the need and utilized available funds to procure the items to support the training of postgraduate doctors.

According to Professor Adanu, the donated equipment would be permanently based at the 37 Military Hospital and used primarily by residents undergoing postgraduate training in radiology. He added that although the items were intended mainly for radiology training, other departments could also access them when collaborating with the Radiology Department for training and related academic activities.

Professor Adanu noted that the donation represented an extension of the College’s postgraduate training efforts at the Hospital and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between the two institutions in strengthening specialist medical education.

The donated items are expected to provide a more conducive environment for academic instruction and contribute to the effective delivery of postgraduate radiology training at the 37 Military Hospital.

The items were received by the Commander, 37 Military Hospital, Brigadier General Richard Mensah, in the presence of the Commanding Officer, 37 Military Hospital, Colonel Alex Abiti, Chief Nursing Officer, Colonel Vivian Adjah, Head of the Radiology Department, Dr Kofi Amedi, Deputy Coordinator, Academics, Postgraduate School, Dr Ben Adusei, and Administrator General, 37 Military Hospital, Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Yobanya.
