Radio Diagnosis & X-ray Division
Radio diagnosis and X-Ray is an important diagnostic tool in medical practice. The Division has within 5 years been transformed from an archaic facility to a modern state-of-the-art imaging facility.
The mission of the Division is to provide diagnostic imaging facilities in fulfilment of the broader mission of the hospital. To achieve this, the Division is equipped with the following:
- Helical CT Scanner
- Fluoroscopy Machine
- General X-ray Machine
- Mammography Machine
- Ultrasound Machine

This equipment enables the Division to carry out the following:
- CT Scanning
- Ultrasonography (B scan and Doppler)
- Mammography
- Plain radiography
Several specialized examinations including Myelography, Barium/gastrographic studies, Excretory Urography, Urethrography, among others.
Present daily attendance for various examinations stands at between 140 and 200 patients. The trend is on the increase. The Division has plans to recruit more Radiologists and other staff to provide quality services and reduce delays in service provision.Â
Plans are advanced by the Hospital to acquire an MRI Machine in the near future for the Division. Presently, there is strong collaboration between the Division and the Teaching Hospital at Korle Bu especially in the training of Postgraduate Students. The Division continues to attend to several referrals from other hospitals within Accra and other regions of the country.
