The Client Service Department is headed by Lt Col Okoh-Bensah – OIC and Captain Nuoumah – 2IC

Capabilities

The department have complete Blood bank and Transfusion capabilities.

  • Able to collect blood from donors.
  • Undertake mobile blood drives.
  • Test and process donor blood.
  • Prepare blood components (eg CRC, PLT, FFP, CRYO).
  • Compatibility testing.
  • Issuance of blood and blood products to all patients in 37 Military Hospital and other health facilities around.

  • All forms of blood donations ( e.g. Replacement, Voluntary Autologous).
  • Therapeutic Bleeding of polycythemia patients.
  • Compatibility testing of donor blood prior to transfusion.
  • Blood component preparation.
  • Storage of blood and blood products for patients.

Mode of Operations (Timings, Appointments)

The Blood Bank operates largely on replacement system, where patients are given every blood and blood products needed for their management and patient relations donate to replace issued units.

  • Other types of donors (i.e. Voluntary and autologous) can walk in.
  • Operate 24/7 services, However Registration for blood donations are from 0700am to 1330pm every day, including Saturday and Sunday.
  • Groups can also contact us for voluntary blood donation exercise.
