The 37 Military Hospital Dental Division have marked the 2026 World Oral Health Day on the theme: ‘’A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life’’ on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the 37 Military Hospital Basic /JHS school.
World Oral Health Day is celebrated annually on March 20 to raise awareness about the importance of oral health and its connection to overall well-being. This year’s theme emphasizes the role of oral health in supporting a healthy and an enjoyable life.
A team of dental officers from the dental division led by a dental officer Lt Col Shadrack Owusu assisted by a Specialist Restorative Dentist Lt Commander Abdul Sahid disclosed that this year’s celebration would be marked with free oral health education, minor and simple treatment and simple fillings to pupils of the school children and teachers at the school.
Pupils from class one upwards including teachers were screened and treated and those who needed further treatment were referred to the division. Both children and adults were advised to brush their teeth two times a day, morning and evening.
The acting Head of Department of the Dental Division Col Joy Frederick Nyankomabo Anaman was present to support the team. Also, present were Dr Adwoa Nunoo and her team from health promotion and public health division and some staff and officers of the dental division were present during the screening exercise.
